Fit kit
One small print that checks your printer and your camera before you print the cartridge.
On this page
Every Super 8 camera is a little different, and so is every printer. The fit kit is one plate that checks both first: about 25 g, under an hour.
| Part | What it’s for |
|---|---|
| Coupon | You measure it, so the Builder knows how your printer prints |
| Fit ring | Goes into your camera: the cartridge’s outline and every spot a camera touches |
| Fit ring lid | Presses onto the ring, so you can close the door on it |
| Cup wheel | Tests whether your camera’s drive catches and turns the wheel |
Print it
- Matte PLA in any opaque colour. Where metal rubs, it turns shiny.
- Turn off the slicer’s hole, contour and elephant-foot compensation. See Print.
- Don’t sand or trim anything. The ring is a measuring tool.
Measure and try it
Open the Builder, pick your camera, then go to Fit kit. It shows where to measure the coupon, then asks about the ring one question at a time and changes the right setting for every “no”.
For the spindle check, measure across each of the ring’s four posts and the spindle’s centre with the calipers’ outside jaws: the Builder moves the wheel to match, to 0.01 mm.
Send a fit report
The Builder’s Report tab writes report.json. Send it with a photo of the ring in your camera through studiofabi.com/contact. Reports are how a camera moves up from Unverified.
