Film
Charge, switch on, load it like film and shoot. Then get your clips off over WiFi.

Before you go
- Charge through the USB-C port in the back. A charge lasts about five hours of use.
- Switch on, then load. The switch sits in the lid, out of reach once the door is shut. It’s ready about 20 seconds later.
- Set the dial to a speed you calibrated, and pick the same speed under Settings on http://s8cam.local:8080.
- Filter switch to filter-out, if your camera has one.
Shoot
- Load it like film: window toward the film gate, lid toward the door. The door should close as easily as on a film cartridge.
- Press the trigger and it records. Let go and the clip ends.
- Start a moment early. The sensor needs about half a second to start.
- Frame loosely. The sensor sees the middle of the frame, so the picture is tighter than the viewfinder.
Focus depends on your film gate: with the gate out the lens focuses as marked; with it in, only up close.
Get your clips off
- At home: open http://s8cam.local:8080 on your phone or computer.
- Away: if it can’t find your WiFi within 15 seconds, it makes its own. Join the hotspot you named in
hostapd.conf(Super8unless you changed it) and open http://192.168.4.1:8080.
The gallery plays, saves and deletes clips. Add it to your phone’s home screen and it opens like an app. Clips are 1296 × 972, H.264; a 128 GB card holds about 25–50 hours.
Switch off
Wait until the gallery says it’s safe to switch off, then slide the switch. Switched off too early? The clip is saved the next time you switch on.
